about the show
AN ICONIC AUSTRALIAN PLAY
….. a portrait of an Aussie family in the late 1950’s navigating issues of progress & patriotism.
A compassionate analysis of several issues; the generational clash of young bull vs. old bull, the opportunity-driven differences of class in Australia’s “classless†society and the inevitability of change in a country that has based much of its self-image on its military history. The play takes place in the home of the Cook family, working-class battlers, in an inner-city suburb in about 1959.
